Biography: 

Konrad Becker is a hypermedia researcher/developer, interdisciplinary event and content designer. He is chairman of the Institute for New Culture Technologies, Public Netbase t0, director of culture and youth oriented center for new communication technologies and founder of World-Information.Org, a cultural intelligence provider. Konrad Becker has been active in electronic media as artist, curator, organiser and producer. Numerous intermedia productions, exhibitions, and eventdesigns for international festivals and institutions, TV-stations, museums and galleries since 1979. Publication of mediaworks, electronic audiovisual products and theoretical texts. Participation in conferences and symposia, radio-broadcasts and TV-programmes, lectures and positions at international universities. He is member of various boards and committees on information- and communication technologies and culture. (UNESCO, City of Vienna, ECB, etc.) and has worked as a consultant for Austrian Ministries and Public Administration.

During his lecture, Konrad Becker has illustrated comprehension of "information" through developing of civilization and pointed out different mechanisms of control and distribution of information. He made dinamic comparation of different levels of using the information and, in that way, stressed contradictions of information era that we are living in.

Konrad Becker has illustrated the historical concept of information and showed different model of control and distribution of information. Through dynamic slide presentation he compared several levels of information using in contemporary contradictory information society we are living. Becker uses different examples from the past and esspecialy from recent postww2 history. He mentioned dr Hose Delgado from the Yale university who addresing the congres 1974. said: 'The individual may think that the most important reality is his own existence, but this is only his personal point of view. This lacks historical perspective' or 'Man does not have right to develop his own mind(...) we must electrically control the brain. Some day armies and generals will be controlled by electric stimulation of the brain'. One interesting thing is example of the interview of former CIA director Richard Helms, in which he has said that cia financed all European 'new left' in the sixties and seventies.
