Abstract

A return to the main elements of Alain Badiou's philosophy - presenting the philosophical horizon in search of true happiness. With a clear view that the correspondence of philosophy and happiness is an existential need, the author explains why this research is desirable today more than ever. Analyzing contemporary limitations, suggestively points to the problem of the defensiveness of today's philosophical thought. He brings his vision closer to the group of "anti-philosophers" (Pascal, Rousseau, Kierkegaard, Nietzsche, Wittgenstein, Lacan), who inherit the philosophy of skepticism and provocation necessary not to sink into the cramped space of academicism. Badiou confronts us with the question of the possibility of changing the world, and in the wake of the theory of events, he places happiness in the realm of enjoying the impossible. Finally, in the book, he discusses the elements of his own answer to the question of "real life" that this philosophy promises us. Taking the achievements of Being and Event (1988) and the Logic of Worlds (2006), he draws the outlines of the question he has yet to articulate in closing the trilogy of his magnum opus: the question of immanent truth.
