Presentation and discussion
Piratbyran and Pirate Bay - activism and service economy

The conversation involves:
Rasmus Fleischer and Magnus Eriksson (piratbyran.org)
Milica Gudovic, Vladan Jeremic, Vlidi (slobodnakultura.org)

Piratbyrån (The Piracy Bureau) is an organization from Sweden that supports efforts and initiatives that oppose the ideas of intellectual property and copyright, freely sharing information and cultural artifacts. Members of this organization have created "Pirate Bay" - the world's largest BitTorrent tracker - a system that allows you to locate and find a variety of files (music, movies, etc.). "Pirate Bay" acts as a kind of locator, and after locating the desired files, the user can download them. Through its activities, "Pirate Bay" has been repeatedly attacked by the Swedish government and police, accused of participating in the distribution of piracy. In addition to this, Piratbyrån deals with various topics: intellectual property, piracy, digital culture, and the annual May Day demonstrations.

The talk is part of the Free Culture Festival 2 and the Creative Commons Salon (held from March 7 to 10, 2008 in Belgrade), where, through a series of discussions on intellectual property and ownership and distribution policies in the context of modern production of "content", guests from Sweden, Brazil and Croatia share their opinions and experiences with the audience. A series of events related to the recent launch of Creative Commons licenses in the Serbian language and current productions published under these licenses, as well as productions that are relevant in this context to consider the issue of ownership and collective work, will be presented. The focus will be on popular content such as music, video games, and movies. CCBit, the first domestic music CD compilation released on Creative Commons licenses, will be presented for the first time, as well as the Freedom Toaster, a device - interface for the individual exchange of digital content in public spaces.

The festival is a joint project of the following organizations: Creative Commons Serbia, slobodnakultura.org, Bureau for Culture and Communication, Dom omladine Belgrade, Rex Cultural Center, NAPON.org, Women in Action, Wikimedia Serbia, CK13.org, indietronic.org
