Construction is one of the branches of the Croatian economy that, in addition to tourism, is developing the fastest and most intensively, especially in the capital, Zagreb. Both industries have taken full advantage of the area in which they are developing in their rapid growth. At the moment, not only are the authorities careless about the uncontrolled growth of urban territory and economic resources, which are ultimately just taxpayers' money, but architects often influence the misuse of strategic resources with their technocratic views.
Luciano Basauri, an architect (1972, Santiago, Chile) completed a Master's degree in Architecture at the Berlage Institute in Rotterdam and a degree in Architecture from the Faculty of Architecture, Universidad Central de Chile in Santiago, where he also worked as a lecturer for two years. During his career, he collaborated with Helena Paver Njiric, Njiric + Njiric Architects in Zagreb, UN Studio, Urban XPRNZ in Amsterdam, and Taller Norte, Haller & Viesner Arquitectos in Santiago.
Dafne Berc, architect (1970, Zagreb, Croatia) is currently studying for a doctorate at the Universitat Politécnica de Catalunya in Barcelona, where she is working on her doctoral dissertation entitled Mediterranean Species. She completed her master's studies at the Berlage Institute in Rotterdam, while she acquired the title of an architect at the Faculty of Architecture, University of Zagreb, where she also worked as a lecturer for four years. As a designer, she worked for Atelier Hrzic in Zagreb and Urban XPRNZ in Amsterdam, as well as in research and design for Project for Public Spaces, Inc. In New York.

The path of development of a metropolis - Sao Paulo
Ligia Nobre will present some of the projects done within the Exo organization from Sao Paulo: / São Paulo //: between utopia and dream (2004-2007), by Paola Salerno Strategies of territorialization in Sao Paulo (2003-2005) by George Dupin and Kazuo Nakano Working at Copan (2005-2007) by Peter Friedl /
Sao Paulo is a metropolis that has been the political, economic, and cultural epicenter of Brazil since the mid-20th century. The differences between the living conditions of the high-income and low-income populations clearly separate parts of this metropolis. Today, Sao Paulo and Brazil are among the places of greatest inequality on the planet, precisely because of these territorial differences and their conflicting relations. Sao Paulo currently reveals a picture of a fragmented and scattered city, with enclaves of the rich, territories afflicted by poverty and misery. Yet Sao Paulo is not a city of walls but a city of permeable borders with changing patterns of mobility and access to urban spaces, resources, and services.
Ligia Nobre, an architect (1973, Sao Paolo, Brazil) has been working as a researcher at ETH Studio Basel- Contemporary City Institute since May 2007. She graduated in architecture from the College of Architecture and Urbanism, Mackenzie University in Sao Paolo, and then transferred to Masters of histories and Theory/studies at the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London. Ligia also works in the editorial office / Guia do Copan / with Pablo Leon de la Barra and is one of the three authors of the essay / Contemporary Latin American Architecture (/ Phaidon Press, 2009). She was recently engaged in coordinating the publication / Working at Copan / by Peter Friedl. He is one of the founders of the organization / exo experimental org / (2002), which is a platform for research in the field of art, politics, and urbanism in Sao Paulo. In the period from 2002-07. Within / exo /, several interdisciplinary research projects have been organized, developed in collaboration with artists and authors from different contexts focused on different possible representations of Sao Paolo.
