The selection was filtered through images of the city and their changes from 1955 to the present day. Split was one of the richest cities in socialism, due to its connections with Italy it was often considered a street fashion center of a completely different fashion than it was in the rest of the country. The development of tourism changed the city into an international destination during the seventies and seventies.

Even before the war, the city was attacked by the sensational media, calling it a "city - a case" due to the increase in the number of addicts, and the high mortality rate from an overdose. During the war, the problem continued, due to new conditions, especially traffic isolation and frequent power reductions, which also led to an increase in the unemployment rate. After the war, Split and its surroundings were the victims of illegal construction (urbanocide) on the coast, and in more recent times of cruel phantom capital that buys, without paying taxes, real estate on the coast. The recognizable living center of the city could soon be ravaged by its recognizable inhabitants and become a ghost town, as the fascists had long wanted. The middle generation of the city of Split, in addition to a large number of victims in the Homeland War, a high percentage of unemployment, especially women, has a large number of cured drug addicts who find it difficult to cope after treatment, and a large number infected with hepatitis-C. The young generations have no other content than new age workshops and cafes because the spaces built for these purposes (Dom omladine) are handed over to institutions that do not work but have been receiving a salary for a whole decade.

The first presentation of a series of works from Split takes place in the city under the same postal code, Novi Sad, and should critically continue in other cities in terms of size, ie "first behind" but - bypassing the capital cities.

Centralism is a problem of all newly created nation-states. Unlike the practice of federal states, where the capital does not necessarily have to be the largest and at the same time the economic center, the formulation of "all in one" is characteristic of start-up economies that exercise new power. The "first behind" syndrome is best described as "almost," the first behind always suffers severe repression of the self-proclaimed first. The centralist organization of resources also affects art.

The program "21 00 - first behind" is a reaction to the attitude of state and city authorities towards the local production of contemporary art. Centralist systems are characterized by small stakes at the state level, and local lack of flow (creation of clans, local heroes ()

Compared to Novi Sad, approximately the same number of inhabitants - Split does not have a gallery of contemporary art, and gallery spaces on a turnkey basis of autonomous institutions lead instead of art historians - economists, with or even without a university. Taxpayers' funds are invested in closed private parties, fashion shows, and cocktails, and not in the production of works and quality presentations in the country and abroad, further isolating the production.

This is the reason for the large waves of emigration of artists from the cultural scene during the 1990s. Among others, they left Split; Zvonimir Bakotin, Renata Poljak, Dario Šolman, Neli Ružić, Tanja Ravlić, Toni Meštrović to countries from Mexico, the USA to European centers, and many others. Most authors deal with video and new media, whose production can survive without an adequate production center, and the distributions work on their own.

The Split scene of new media grew up on the "Split Film School", the program of the Cinematheque. The first project of new media was Pictures of Space (edited by Bakotin and Zorić) in the mid-1990s, at the time when the International Festival of New Film, Video, and New Media was founded.

During the two days of screening, (digitized) works of the "Split Film School" will be shown, which were not presented to the public for a long time, a selection of video shot under the sea (Sub art), in Ivo Deković's production workshop on Cape Razanj near Šibenik, and works by critically deal with local, mostly social, topics. The program will feature films from 1955 until today Kino Klub Split, authors: Ivan Martinac, Ante Verzotti, Lordan Zafranović, Ivica Bošnjak, Branko Karabatić, Dasen Štambuk, Boris Poljak, Žarko Batinović, Zdravko Mustać, Fradelić, Bodanović, Kalabris, Marušić, and Perić ... Of the feature films, Branko Karabatić's recent works "Einstein's Biggest Mistake" and Goran Čača's documentary "Shipyard Blues" will be shown. In the selection of underwater videos, it will be possible to watch a series of works by Toni Meštrović, Tanja Ravlić, and Renata Poljak. The last selection of women's videos will feature works by Tanja Ravlić, Neli Ružić, and again with the topic of urban genocide by Renata Poljak and Sandra Sterla. The program will be opened by DJ Ielle, and the last evening will start with black risotto.

IGOR LUŠIĆ: second-year student of the Academy of Fine Arts and the youngest president of the Cinema Club Split, of which he has been a member since 1997, and since then he has been organizing film schools. He made a large number of short films in collaboration with other members of the Cinema Club.

DJ YELLE: (Jelena Bakotin) Although after graduating from the School of Applied Arts and Design she enrolled in the Accademia di belle arti di Macerata (Italy), today she specializes in graphic and web design and photography. She met electronic music in 1994 and in 2001 she performed in public for the first time in Sarajevo and after that, she played in Bosnia and Croatia, although the acting was not her primary interest. Her music sets are a combination of tech-house and electro-house spiced with "girlish" vocals.

TONI MEŠTROVIĆ graduated in 1999 from the Graphic Department of the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, where he worked on graphics, sculpture, and installation. Due to his interest in electronic audiovisual media, in 1997 he studied Video / Digital Imaging at the International Sommerakademie für Bildende Kunst in Salzburg. In 2004 he completed a two-year postgraduate study for Medienkunst at the Kunsthochschule für Medien Köln, where he explored in video, sound, and video/sound installations his personal perception of the sea and the island he grew up with. Since 1992, he has been actively participating in group and solo exhibitions and video festivals in Croatia and abroad. He lives in Kaštela and works as a senior assistant at the Academy of Arts of the University of Split.

ANA PERAICA graduated in philosophy and art history in Zagreb, the post-academic program of art theory and new media Jan Van Eyck Academy in the Netherlands graduated in 2000, with awards from UNESCO-IFPC and BKVB Fund, attended doctoral studies at ASCA, University of Amsterdam. He publishes in journals such as Issues in Contemporary Arts and Culture, Springerin, Pavillion, book chapters for the East Art Map (eds. Irwin, Afterall), Selektoica Int. new film and video festival, and ISEA 2004, moderator of Leonardo ISAST's Yasmin network with Nina Czegledy. This year she curated the international project Women at the Crossroads of Ideologies (70 participants from 20 countries), presented at the CEI meeting of curators in Venice, in preparation for a presentation for the Art & Education conference in Kassel,

21 000: "FIRST BEHIND", The presentation of the Split art scene in Novi Sad was realized within the program of professional stay of artists from Southeast Europe "Backyard residencies", under the auspices of the Nordic Council of Ministers.

"Backyard residencies" aims to renew and establish links between artists and local art scenes in the countries of Southeast Europe. The professional stay program is realized in three independent art organizations in the region: Vector Association, Iasi, Romania, Platform Garanti Contemporary Art Center, Istanbul, Turkey, and in the Center for New Media_kuda.org, Novi Sad, Serbia.
